Process Paper
How I chose my topic:
At first I had no intention of choosing the invention of penicillin as my NDH topic. In fact, I didn’t even know about it. I had some other ideas, but once I had spoken with my teacher and parents we had some better thoughts. My mother had gone to the library and was looking at books on historical figures and turning points in history. Later that day when I had come home from school she had gotten a book on history, and kindly bookmarked some interesting pages. She had said to me that the invention of penicillin was a good idea. Once I looked at the book and had read some information on the topic I had decided that the invention of penicillin was a great idea and was going to become my NHD project.
Conducting my research:
After I choose my topic my mother and I had gone back to the library and checked out some more books on penicillin. Then as my homework I had to find more sources, so I found so some websites. Following that I read some of the books and got as many more as the library had.
How I selected my category:
Last year when I participated in the NHD fair, I worked as a group and we had all decided to do a website since it seemed like something fun to learn how to do, and we all love using todays technology. So this year when my teacher asked us what we wanted to do I chose a website again because it was a fun and easy experience.
How it relates to the NHD theme:
I believe that the invention of penicillin was a turning point in history because it saved thousands of lives and pioneered the use of antibiotics and the medical industry.
